Experion Operations Assistant: Honeywell Introduces AI-Powered Predictive Control Room Solution

Experion Operations Assistant

Experion Operations Assistant has been commercially launched by Honeywell, marking a significant step forward in AI-powered industrial automation.

The Experion Operations Assistant is designed to help operators monitor plant performance, make critical decisions, and proactively respond to alarm incidents before they occur.

Built on Honeywell’s flagship distributed control system, Experion PKS, the Experion Operations Assistant integrates historical data with real-time operational insights.

This enables operators to forecast potential risks linked to unsafe operations and production losses, effectively bridging the gap between autonomous technologies and human control room decision-making.

Experion Operations Assistant: Minimize Unplanned Downtime

The launch of the Experion Operations Assistant follows a successful pilot program involving global energy majors Chevron and TotalEnergies.

During the pilot, the Experion Operations Assistant demonstrated its ability to predict alarm incidents an average of 5–10 minutes in advance.

This early warning capability allowed operators to implement corrective actions swiftly, helping to minimize unplanned downtime and prevent potential disruptions.

“Industrials are under pressure to avoid unplanned downtime and maximize the productivity of existing assets, while navigating the massive knowledge transfer of a retiring workforce,” said Jim Masso, president and CEO of Honeywell Process Automation.

“By combining more than 50 years of process automation expertise with site-specific knowledge, data and advanced AI, Experion Operations Assistant helps operators anticipate issues earlier, respond with confidence and operate more safely and effectively.

Throughout our pilot phase, the assistant delivered tangible, real-world results across multiple customer sites, highlighting the immense opportunity as the solution scales.”

As part of the Experion PKS ecosystem, the Experion Operations Assistant is engineered to seamlessly integrate into existing control room environments.

By leveraging legacy systems and site-specific data, the assistant captures operational knowledge and applies advanced language models to analyze this data in real time.

This enables the solution to proactively guide operators on impending issues, enhancing operational safety, efficiency, and performance.
